How do you know they do not "take effect" ? Don't you have your new IP values using ifconfig and less /etc/dhcpd.conf ? This a completely different Internet sharing connexion based on shorewall ... so it uses the Shorewall approach. I have tried to simplify as much as I could in order to keep the old ISC look and feel ... but it's a different tool though.
