mit.edu (PLATYCRYPTUS-CALIFORNICUS.MIT.EDU) is 22 hops, goes via LAX.
carroll.cac.psu.edu is 19 hops (with #17 timed out), goes via SFO.
chaos.planetmirror.com (Brisbane) is 7 hops.
I get no mention of any "Internet2".
