I'm glad you've had better luck with Sony support than I have. My Vaio F-340's battery is toast after about a year and a half of use -- it won't hold any charge, though the battery meters in both Linux and Windows say it is filling up normally. After the online runaround of "did this canned answer relate to your question at all?", Sony tech support said I could send in the machine for a fee, and the first thing they would do would be to wipe the hard drive to make sure it wasn't a software problem. I don't think my next notebook will be a Sony. One thing to watch out for with any system these days is the Windows install disks. If you get a vendor-customized "restore" disk instead of a standard Windows disk, you may find that if you ever need to reinstall windows, it will mess with your partitions and set them back to the default state. -- Aaron Peromsik <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ----[For thinner oatmeal, add more water.]
