OK, I just spent a few hours updating the ncpfs
package, it's in ftp.linux-mandrake.com/incoming for
someone to upload.

Unfortunately it doesn't fix the problem.  ncpfs works
on SuSE 8.1 and RH 7.3, but not Mandrake or RH 8.0. 
Could it be a kernel issue?
