APM is older
ACPI is newer

new laptops & machines only support ACPI, and you need ACPI for more
than power management. For instance found how many processor has your
new PIV and to enable Hyperthreading. That means that we need an ACPI
kernel.

Now the problem. If you look at the quality of pre-ACPI BIOS, they
are of very bad quality. ACPI is a _very complicated_ standard, and
then they make the implementation wrong a lot of times :(

I will be putting here a method to get any machine that don't work
with ACPI in a black list that don't use ACPI by default.

Notice that ACPI will be good if everybody use it, I am able to change
the frecuency of my laptop, consult how many battery it still has,
switch the fan on/off, calling a script when I press the power button,
close the laptop, press the sleep button .....

Later, Juan.
