OK, I tried the same with /usr/share/printer-testpages/testpage-a4.ps.
And also with a large postscript file. There were no errors.

I have the latest packages from the 9.0 update:
kernel 2.4.19 16mdksecure
ghostscript 7.05 28.2mdk
printer-filters 1.0 79.2mdk
foomatic 2.0.2 20021030.1.2mdk
cups 1.1.16 0.4mdk

This worked fine and continued to do so for about ten times.
Then I tried to print a big file with cups, this failed.
Next I printed the testfile with "lpr -oraw" which succeeded!
And also the "cat testfile > /var/run/ptal-printd/mlc_usb_PSC_2200_Series"
still worked, as did the "cat" of the big file.

I removed the printer and created it again. All three testpages failed,
two aborted and the third "succeeded" without printing. The "cat > .."
still worked!
