Yes I know, I answer to myself :-o, but it's just to add more info on swsusp 
beta16 ...

- I can suspend my laptop (Presario 2800) without any difficulties using 
/proc/sys/kernel/swsusp interface.

- "echo 4 > /proc/acpi/sleep" still doen't works, but it seems to be a 
Pressario 2800 issue (acpi has never really worked on it).

- I can't resume after shutdown, I have the following message when the RAM 
image is been recovered: 
   alloc pages: 0-order allocation failed [gfp=0x3d2/0]

- I've found on Mandrake's expert mailing list that other people may have the 
same problem with the following config :
"Mandrake 9.0, cooker kernel-2.4.20-2mdk and swsusp beta 16, Sony Vaio
VX88 with i810 chipset."
