> I don't know any other software company that ships their official, > commercial software distribution on CDs>650MB. I had just take the first CD that was on my desk : Starcraft Brood War
/home/misc $ df | grep cdrom /dev/cdrom 684M 684M 0 100% /mnt/cdrom Date back to 98. I have already changed 4 time of cd reader, and never had any probleme to play. But you are right, Linux is about freedom and sharing. Mandrake staff all believe in the free software values, and, if some people can't use Linux because of this problem, we should do something. Or else, they will use others distributions, and say around them "I use this one, and, no problem. With Mandrake, it didn't work.". Or even worse, as stated before, they will not use Linux. Is it so difficult to do it ? I have no idea of the process implied, but, isn't there some kind of rules, such as "all dependencies of a package on CD1 should be on CD1", and so on ? Can this be automated ? And once it is done, everything will be fine. How long can this take ? Isn't there a way to use the same package order used in the 8.2 ? Of course, it will waste disk space on mirror, and bandwidth during the mirroring. But disk space is cheap, and , the iso can be generated by a script on the mirror. Apart from these , is there another problem ? No one from Mandrake has said anyting on the subject, or I missed it ? Mick
