Fisrt of all : is the signing web site available, i cannot reach it ...
Second : about the thread.
I think the ongoing problems for Mandrake is that they don't yet offer
sufficient goodies to clients for having them buy a pack or subscribe a
club membership.
I've participated in some betas now, and i think i've paid enough (time)
to Mdk's developpment. This is the way i give it back. I'll continue
with the 9.1 release ...
I've also buy a pack for myself (8.0) and for my lab (8.1), but i'm now
using 8.2 in the lab and 9.0 at home.
In 8.2 i had a cdrom problem very annoying, and it is ONLY because i've
subscribed to cooker that i have been able to cope with it : i 've
disactivated the DMA for it and the random hungs disapeared. (LG model
of cd burner(HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8240B in harddrake). I called the
technical service, they complained about my 8.1 version instead of 8.2,
but after one hour, they couldn't help me and finally i hang down the
phone.
i called another time for a network-printing problem and the same story.

Another story here : we have received severall machines with linux
installed on it. But it was ReHat, although i'm in France. The seller is
German, and it's not also SuSe ...

What about this ?

In order to have a better visibility, Mandrake should be clearer :
- what support do i REALLY get if i buy a pack ?
- if the support for my product does not include what i'm asking,
propose a solution for it, i'm not convinced the club is the right
answer through what i've heard and seen.
- they need more contracts with indusries, it's where money is, research
machines could be also built with Mandrake's distribution !
- finally, in order to add something : when you buy a pack, the
commercial apps should work (for the less) all through a serie
(8.0->8.2) and some directions should explain how to correct the
incompatibilities.

To end, the economic scene is not very clear at the moment, and i think
some economic problems are not just Mdk specific, but in this perturb
context, they should correct already what is not working well, instead
of only asking for money.
