I presume this is to support the Windows "Auto-configuration IP address" thing. If so, is there anything that still needs to be done (/etc/network-scripts/ifup.d/ ?) to make something like smb://windows-machine work out-the-box when connecting to a DHCP/Autoconfiguration-enabled Windows machine to a Mandrake box? Even better would be a working lisa, but kio_lan is still too broken for this to even help. If ifplugd worked on the 3c589_cs I would give it a test ...
