aka "Auto-configuration IP address" (which you will see windows calls it
if you do 'ipconfig /all' on an nt/2k/xp box, winipcfg for the toy
versions).

But the question is, what do we need to do to get *real* things working
with this (and ping doesn't count).

Also, might this not be a security concern, having such a route
available by default? Should it not only be created if the card is
configured for when the card is configured for dhcp and it hasn't leased
an IP (which AFAIK is the windows behaviour).
