Of course being tired now of fighting this, but after reinstalling 14 and changing the /etc/sysconfig/desktop to kdm and then to kde. Of course as with my luck, neither allowed anything other than failsafe. Only gdm works to login to kde. As i said i am tired of fighting this now. gdm is my safe bet until later in the long beta cycle or after i reinstall again to get all of the conf files right. It's not worth continuing the prior conversation, so I'll leave it alone. Misunderstandings happen and people overreact. When I get to the point you are at now, I do a clean install. Of course, I keeo a local mirror of the entire Cooker tree, so I get al the updates at the sme time so I'm not sure how that solution works for you if you only have the beta3 iso's Gregory K. Meyer
