Why should Mandrakesoft, a company that support free software (such as releaseing all their software under the GPL) spend developer time to support a hardware company that does not release free drivers??? > and automatically edit the > XF86Config file? THERE IS NO NEED TO EDIT THE CONFIG FILE TO GET THE DRIVERS TO WORK (that's what the modprobe NVdriver is all about in 9.0 ...)</rant> > > > What furthers my problem is that I had to download and compile a > > > separate kernel in order for the nvidia drivers to want to compile. > > > > Somehow I doubt that. > > > > # urpmi kernel-source > > Doesn't work. People on this list are assumed to be competent enough to be able to download an SRPM and rebuild it, getting a kernel-source package to do it. > > 1)choose another list for your next post > > > > 2)Get your card running: > > # urpmi lynx > > # lynx -source http://ranger.dnsalias.com/nvidia_me|sh > > That's a nice script.. something like that would be good in the control > center. like a "Got Nvidia?" button per say. Sorry, but I only do this to support Mandrakesoft, not freeloaders. The script is mainly there to help people get NVidia kernel modules for updated kernels. I don't have time to test and maintain binaries for cooker kernels when I don't necessarily run a cooker kernel on my cooker box (win4lin ...). Buy a pack next time, or join the Club. buying a pack will mean you need to do absolutely nothing to get the NVidia drivers working. Joining the club will mean 'urpmi.addmedia ...; urpmi NVIDIA_kernel NVIDIA_GLX'.
