------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-02-24 18:36 ------- I will try boot parameters tonight. Previously with kernel 2.4.18 (Mandrake 8.2) I tried the following boot options: "acpi=off", "apm=off", "nopcmia", "debug no-hlt noisapnp nopcmcia acpi=off" and several other boot options...none of them did anything. Do you have any other suggestions as to boot parameters I should try? Also I noticed a new kernel was built.. Where do I download that from? how do I try it out? ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------- Reminder: ------- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: I recently got a toshiba 2436-s255 laptop. When I put a mandrake CD in it displays the page asking me "<F!> for more options and <ENTER> to install or upgrade" If I hit enter my screen will go black and freeze. I've tried <F1> and many different kernel options ... with the 2.4 kernels nothing works I still get a freeze. Using a 2.2 kernel allows me to proceed, I can install a base system but then the 2.4 kernels that come with the system will not start my system up. I have gotten this system to work with 2.4 kernels, I just had to build it myself... this is very difficult when you don't have a rescue CD or anything that can boot the machine. I had the same problem with Mandrake 9.0. I'll refer you to a post discussing the problem on the toshiba-linux support list: http://linux.toshiba-dme.co.jp/ML/tlinux-users/3100/3114.html
