I disagree.  The reviewers and the GP are looking for nice fonts and a clean, 
minimalistic look and I think this accomplishes that.  They needed a change 
that increases the wow factor anyway.  Maybe Eugenia will be happy now :-D

Agreed, Expert mode should allow you to fully configure LILO (or install GrUB 
instead).  We may be past the point where this can be changed though as 
feature freeze is upon us.

Along with some other missing features.  Many have complained about not being 
able to login as root (although they shouldn't anyway) and I don't like not 
being able to have hidden users. It can shake it's head NO a la OSX on a 
failed login though.  

You can change it back yourself by uninstalling mdkkdm and installing 
kdebase-kdm in it's stead.  Perhaps the expert install should let you choose 
default login manager so you can skip mdkkdm if you want.
