Did you import any Windows fonts? I had the same problem after using drakfont to grab
my ttf fonts, but "solved" it by deleting:
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/drakfont/ttf/oldengl.ttf

I'm not sure if its something I installed, or what, but DrakFont as well as the entire
Control Center ran fine until earlier this afternoon when I tried to use it and it
didn't load,
so I ran it from the command line to get this:
No fonts found; this probably means that the fontconfig
library is not correctly configured. You may need to
edit the fonts.conf configuration file. More information
about fontconfig can be found in the fontconfig(3) manual
page and on http://fontconfig.org
I first tried the control center, drakconf, to get that, so then I figured I'd try
drakfont, to
get the same results. I browsed the fonts.conf file but nothing seems wrong, so I'm
not
sure what happened.
