Whenever I shutdown or reboot, I just get a black screen and nothing happens. I have to forcefully shut down by holding the power key. I just got tired of Windows XP and switched to Linux. I am very new to linux/unix and don't know how to recompile the kernel as mentioned above, however I liked linux very much and want to use it. Does anybody know if the problem can be resolved if I install version 9.0 instead of 9.1RC? If no, then which version should I try?
