snd-via82xx : VIA Technologies|VT82C686 [Apollo Super AC97/Audio]
[MULTIMEDIA_AUDIO] (vendor:1106 device:3058 subv:1019 subd:0990)

I have only one sound card as shown above. My point is that it should either be:

above snd-via82xx snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-slot-0 snd-via82xx

or:

alias sound-slot-0 via82cxxx_audio

but _never_ both.

In case u know, the drivers "via82cxxx_audio" (OSS) and "snd-via82xx" (ALSA 0.9) both
work
for the VIA686/a/b, VIA8233/5 on-board audios. This is not a problem of two sound
cards but
two drivers for the same sound card. Currently, the ALSA driver is better than the OSS
driver
and that is what my system is using. And the kernel will never load both drivers
simultaneously.

I reported this bug for mdk-9.1rc1 and it was "fixed". As I see it now, it was never
fixed. Please
do not claim to have fixed a bug when u have not.

description:
The same problem was in mdk-9.1rc1. My /etc/modules.conf has these entries:

above snd-via82xx snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-slot-0 snd-via82xx
alias sound-slot- via82cxxx_audio

Obviously, the 3rd entry has got no business being there since only one driver can be
used
at a time.
