Hi,

New install of 9.1 rc2. Openoffice starts and functions, but if you try to access
fonts (for example, by using the drop down font list on the toolbar) the program
crashes (just disappears).

Please tell me what sort of fonts you have. At least, give the output of chkfontpath and any extra font that doesn't come from the distribution. I installed all font packages requested by any language pack and could not reproduce the problem.

If started in a konsole, oowriter just give a
"segmentation fault" error message ... This is probably related to bug 1492 but
does not seem quite the same.

Please get a gdb trace. For example:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/openoffice/program gdb /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin
> run
and let it crash, if reproduced.

NOTE: this goes away if the libfreetype.so.6.3.2 that ships with rc2 is replaced
with David Chester's custom libfreetype (http://www.cs.mcgill.ca/~dchest/xfthack/).

Please try with the following library: libvcl641li.so from <http://people.mandrakesoft.com/~gbeauchesne/openoffice/libs/> (to be inserted in /usr/lib/openoffice/program)

Bye,
Gwenole.
