This is an acknowledged bug in 4.3.0 by the XFree 86 developers. They were not
going to fix it for 4.3.0. I have included a recommended source patch in
comment #5 if you wanted to do a patch ahead of the XFree 86 developes. ;-)

Hardware is a ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 8500DV (64M), Dell 2000FP. During
Install and running drakxconf the monitor is correctly detected as a dell2000FP.
The default resolution as set in the install is 1600x1200 which is the monitors
rated resolution.
When X is started the monitor ( connected DVI ) reports 1280x1024 at 75hz. I
select generic flat panel at 1600x1200 and restart X the display resolution
remains the same. (the monitor is rated at 1600x1200 @ 60hz).
(With 9.0 the display is set to the right resolution, but lot's of video noise,
The only way to get a usable display in 9.0 is to use the ATI driver In 9.0 the
resolution as reported by the monitor is 1542x1200).
