AFAIK, rc2 uses supermount by default, so you should not need to mount any devices.

Buchan, I was able to resolve the problem by disabling supermount. After
that I was able to add "cdrw" and dvdrom" to my desktop with the correct
links to dev/scd0 and dev/hdd. The options to add these entries were
available using "add cd/dvd rom device" after disabling supermount but
