Supporting, the "Removable Media" icon was driving me mad.
When starting KDE, it's always recreated (I've tried deleting it multiple times)
and although it's placed at the top of the desktop after recreation,
upper-lefthand corner, every time I press the "End" key I navigate to it instead
to the expected XTerm icon that I've placed at the bottom of my desktop :(((
Besides, in RC2 this horrible icon is still not localized (bug 1291), produces
kfm errors (bug 1471), and causes in general more harm than good for the user...
I'd expect an option to turn that icon off (possibly with the default setting of
"turn off", until the icon is ready for prime time - sometime around Mandrake
Linux 9.2...).

i am pretty positive that not every user is happy with removable media icon as
well as with dynamic icons reloaded each time kde is started. i always have to
use tutorial at https://icculus.org/~dolson/mdkxp/?c=tutorials to remove it.
have you ever considered implementing function such as turn removable
media/dynicons on/off (in KDE control center maybe)
that would be really great.
