  1                cup  sugar
  1                cup  butter -- softened
  1                     egg
  2        tablespoons  milk
  1           teaspoon  vanilla
  3               cups  all-purpose flour
  2          teaspoons  baking powder

Combine sugar and butter in large bowl.  Beat at medium speed, scraping
bowl often, until creamy.  Add egg, milk and vanilla, continue beating
until well mixed.  reduce speed to low; add flour and baking powder. 
Beat, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.

Divide dough in half. continue as directed to make Chai Cookies, festive
Cherry Drops, Frosted Chocolate Almond Cookies or Cinnamon Chocolate Chip
Rounds.
