Anna, I'd personally use a 9x5 loaf pan.

Hi, in the below recipe it doesn't say what size of pan to use. Any guesses or thoughts?

APPLE UPSIDE DOWN GINGERBREAD

  3 tablespoons butter, melted

  3/4 cup brown sugar

  1 teaspoon cinnamon

  4 apples, peeled and sliced

  1/2 cup butter

  2 eggs, beaten

  1 cup molasses

2 1/2 cups sifted cake flour

  2 teaspoons baking soda

  2 teaspoons ginger

  1/2 teaspoon salt

  1 cup buttermilk

Combine brown sugar with cinnamon. Spread melted butter in baking pan. Arrange apples, pared, cored and sliced, in alternate layers with cinnamon sugar.

Cream 1/2 cup butter, add 1/2 cup sugar gradually and cream until fluffy. Add beaten eggs and molasses and beat thoroughly. Sift flour, soda, ginger and

salt together. Add alternately with buttermilk in small amounts, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Pour batter over apples and bake in moderate oven

(325 degrees) 35 to 50 minutes. Serve with whipped cream.
