3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
3/4 cup raisins
1/2 cup butter or margarine -- softened
3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

an electric mixer until fluffy. Gradually add sugar, beating well. Add egg and
beat well. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Gradually
add to creamed mixture; mix just until blended after each addition. Stir in
applesauce mixture. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9-inch square pan;
bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 to 35 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in
center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack.
