German Spice Cookies
 
3 eggs
2 cups packed brown sugar
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp pepper
 2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
 
In a large bowl, beat the eggs.  Add the brown sugar, cloves, cinnamon, and the 
pepper.  Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.  Gradually add to the
egg mixture.  Stir in the raisins and the walnuts.  Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 
inches apart onto lightly greased baking sheets.  Bake at 400 F for 8-10 minutes
or until the surface cracks.  Remove to wire racks to cool. Makes 3 1/2 dozen 
cookies
