Hi, Blaine,
I cut kiwi in the following way. Actually, there are two ways; the second is messier.

First way:
Cut the ends off of the fruit so that it is flat on each end.
Next, place it upright on a flat surface. Holding it firmly with one hand and turning as needed. separate the skin with a vegetable peeler. It takes a very little pressure only since the flesh of the fruit is very soft.

Next, turn the fruit sideways so that the curved side is now on the flat surface. Slice in thin slices with a pearing knife using either your finger or a knife guide.

Second way:

Trim the ends offf of the fruit and cut it with the pearing knife before peeling off the skin. Then simply use two fingers and gently pinch the skin off of each slice.

This way is messier but just as effective.

Note that, since the fruit is inherrently soft, it must be handled carefully. Also, do not use knives that are very sharp, as the fruit is soft and delicate.

I hope that made sense; I haven't actually cut one in several months, so it is hard to put into words.

Hth,
Erin

Subject: [CnD] cutting kewi

I was wondering how you go about cutting Kewi? I cut some tonight but it
wasn't all nice like sighted people cut it and I was wondering if anyone has
found a secret to cutting kewi that I don't know about? I tried using a
vegetable pealer but it didn't work too well so I took a knife and carefully
cut the skin but was wondering if anyone had a technique that they could
share with the rest of us.

Blaine
