Carla,

Someone else here who has done more broiling will know more than I. In my 
experience, if you burn things easily like I also do, your food needs to be 
further away from the heat. Fish cooks pretty quickly. I also leave the oven 
door cracked if I'm broiling things that take longer, but need to be closer 
to the heat, like steaks. That way I'm letting out some of the heat and the 
meat won't burn as easily. Check often, I do because I've burned stuff too 
many times.
