Easy Caramel Frosting
1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter 1 cup packed dark brown sugar Dash of salt 1/4 cup whole milk 2 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Method 1. Place butter, brown sugar and salt in a medium-size heavy saucepan over medium heat. 2. Stir and cook until the mixture comes to a boil (about 2 minutes). 3. Add milk, stir and bring the mixture back to a rolling boil, then remove the pan from the heat. 4. Add the confectioners; sugar and vanilla extract and beat with a wooden spoon until the frosting is smooth. 5. Use immediately, while still warm, to frost the cake of your choice. 6. It is a loose, pourable frosting when first made. 7.
