Make the bread slices in the oven before you go to church, even spread the
ooasted garlic spread on them. Then, when you get to church, top with one
or more of the suggested toppings.
This is soooo good - and relatively inexpensive.
Roasted Garlic Crustini with assorted toppings
roast 4 heads of garlic
12 ½ inch diagonal slices Italian bread
¼ cup olive oil
pureed garlic from 4 heads roasted garlic
topping options:
shaved Parmisan cheese
fresh creamy goat cheese at room temperature.
roasted red peppers cut into thin strips
oil-packed sun dreid tomatoes cut into strips
Roma tomatoes, thinly sliced
fresh basil leaves cut into thin strips
Balsamic vinegar
thinly sliced proshuto
sliced fresh mozzerella cheese
Make a puree out of the roasted garlic by adding just a little olive oil and
mashing them with a fork.
preheat oven to 375
Brush bread slices with olive oil and place on baking sheet
bake until golden, 12 to 15 minutes.
remove from oven and cool to room temperature.
spread pureed garlic evenly on toasted bread.
top with any of the options listed above or make and assortment.
to roast garlic: Cut the top off the garlic head and put about a teaspoon
of olive oil on it.
oven: wrap in foil and Bake about 1 hour at 350
microwave: wrap in plastic wrap and cook on high 1 minute.
cloves will be soft. let cool until you can handle them easily and just
separate the cloves and squirt out the garlic into a bowl.
