Hi, I tried a tuna can ring but the metal rusts after the first use and cleaning. On Wed, 15 Dec 2010, Cheryl Osborn wrote:

That is a wonderful idea for fried eggs! I've always been told to use a tuna can ring, but bread sounds much better. As for pancakes, I like to bake apple pancakes. My recipe follows:

Baked Apple Pancakes

Preheat the oven to 425' F

In a pie plate melt a tablespoon of butter in the oven while you put the batter together.

In a large bowl mix:
2 Tablespoons melted butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Peel and slice 2 good size apples
Add the apple slices to the butter mixture and stir until the apple slices are well coated

In a separate bowl mix batter:
pinch salt
1/2 cup flour (unsifted)
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
Beat until well mixed

Take the pan out of the oven with the melted butter:
Add the batter
Add the coated apple slices gently on top of the batter
Bake about 20 minutes

Serve this with either butter or maple syrup.

You could always resort to baked pancakes and one-eyed sailors. Baked
pancakes you don't flip. One-eyed sailors since you've used a cooky
cutter or glass to punch out a circle in the center of a good slice of
bread and put the slice in the pan and then cracked an egg right into the
center of that slice of bread so it lands in the hole, and let it cook for
a while those are easier to flip and taste better than eggs with rye or
pumpernickel bread. Just remember patience and let the egg set up nicely
in that hole and it will be much easier to flip.On Tue, 14 Dec 2010, Holly
