Rice cookers come in at least two sizes. If you are cooking for a family,
you may want the larger one. But if you're alone or with just one other
person, the smaller one is good. I have a smaller one made by Oster. It's
very simple to use and brown or white rice comes out just right. I have a
microwave oven. And I have a microwave rice cooker/pasta cooker around here
somewhere. But I really prefer the electric separate rice cooker. You put
the prescribed amounts of water and rice in it along with whatever
seasonings and butter or oil, push down a lever and the lever will pop up
when the rice is done. There are two little lights on mine. The right one
blinks while the rice is cooking. Then it goes off and the left light comes
on to tell you that the rice is being kept warm. I can tell what these
lights are doing with a light probe. You can also make various rice pilafs
in your cooker. Hope you find what you need.
