I don't see why you couldn't use like a yellow cake mix. I just got this
recipe, so I haven't tried this one.

MOIST FRUIT PUDDING CAKE
1 #2 can fruit cocktail
2 c. flour
1 1/4 to 1 1/2 c. white sugar
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
Mix together in a bowl. Bake in 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Put topping of 1/2
cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup chopped pecans mixed together. Sprinkle over
top before
baking. Bake at 325 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes and serve with whipped
cream or ice cream. Enjoy.
