Hi Gail, the recipe you have is the same as I have made for years, using milk, not water. It sounds to me that maybe you didn't let it come to a good boil long enough. You let it come to a nice boil and then you remove it from the heat to add the 1 min. oats, which may make a difference if you don't use them and etc. Make sure you stir it all up really good scraping the bottom and sides of the pan to get the oats all mixed good in there. I then jus spoon it all out by a spoon full, at a time, onto wax paper not, tin foil. I have never heard of turning them over. After you have the wax paper full, leaving a space between each one, you leave them on the counter top to set, and cool. Then they get more firm. When all cooled you can just take them off the wax paper with a spatula or even handling them carefully with your hand. Place them on your tray or what ever you have to store them on and cover them, I then place them in the fridge, for a little while. They are very good and my kids love them. Hope this may help. Katie

It doesn't say anything about turning them through the drying process.

These were still a bit runny.

It doesn't look like they are going to harden all the way.

My husband says they are the consistancy of thick peanut butter.

Oh well!
