Also thing is about changing sub lines. Lets say, I posted a reply to a list message until Cooking in crock-pot. Then someone sees that I mentioned "timer batteries" so they go and change the subject line, Am I supposed to just open every message on here to see if I have a reply just because someone wants to be fidgety about subject lines? If I don't see the previous subject "Cooking in crock-pot" I won't know to open the message. What if someone else would've asked a question about my same subject, using that same subject line "Timer Batteries" more specific than mine ? how am I to know that a message was meant for me if the same replied to subject isn't there anymore? This is why it's a good idea not to frequently change subject lines. Enough said going to my quiet corner. Again no offence meant, but I hope you can see my point on why I am not a big fan of continually changing subject lines. Sure if the message continues to talk about batteries, after say a week then yeah hell, lets change the subject line to reflect it's thread. But There's no point in changing it if it simply mentions it say for or five messages through out the thread then jumps back on topic. Later Jerry Mader

I have a talking timer but no batteries for it. Anyone know where to get those button shaped batteries? They're about as big around as an aspirin? Hello there, I have never purchased this item before, but I know that Maxie Aids has a liquid indicator that you can use when pouring hot drinks. Blind mice megga mall might also sell it too. Another thing that helps me very much in the kitchen is my talking timer. I'm a stay at home mom and I've also been blind since birth. Well anyhow, I'm allways multitasking so that reminds me to check on things that I'm cooking in the kitchen to see if they are ready. You can buy that at Maxie Aids as well. Hope I was able to help. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jerry Mader" <[email protected] To: <[email protected] Sent: Monday, September 26, 2011 12:50 PM Subject: Re: [CnD] Hey there folks I'm Jerry Mader just wanted to sayhiandintroduce myself. You did both you and Sarah. Yeah I'm thinking that I'm gonna get the Oven mitts for sure. Also what sort of indicators can I get that will let me know when I'm pouring a hot drink that I'm at almost the top of the glass/cup? Anyone know? Hi, Jerry. I have also been blind since birth and have been cooking for years. As for burning your fingers, the only thing I can think of is to be cautious. It happens to everyone. Those oven mitts are a great idea. I plan to get some myself at some point. As for your microwave, you could use braille labels; you could also use inexpensive dots, puff-paint, etc. It depends on your preference and how comfortable you are finding numbers and other controls without actually having to read each one in braille. I am very comfortable with braille; however, I am also comfortable with finding controls if I have something to mark them. As a result, our microwave is marked with plastic jewels from walmart. I hope this email is not too rambling and hope I helped a little. Hi there. I'm Jerry Mader. Been blind since birth. Just now learning to cook at 29 years old. I have a chef for a future step dad and he's awesome at it but doesn't know how to teach me the basics of cooking as I can't see so I came here for tips and tricks. I also air Dale Campbell's cooking in the dark show on Monday afternoon, right after the Mader Morning Jam at twelve o'clock. on Http://www.maderradio.net So I figured here's be the place to be to learn to cook. What I'm mostly worried about is burning my fingers, but I guess everyone gets burned sometimes. How can I avoid this? I have heard of the oven mitts that Dale has advertised on the show which I am gonna give a try. Also what about labeling this microwave because it is a flat screened control panel. Are there any suggestions.
