Makes 6 servings

This recipe is based on one from The Ohio State University Hall of Fame Cookbook. It's so good, I never use another recipe.

1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
3/4 cup oats
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
1 cup V8 or tomato juice
1 egg, beaten to blend

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine all ingredients. Pack into a loaf pan.

Bake 1 hour 15 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing.
