[CnD] Decorating cakes

I like baking cakes but have a hard time decorating them. I read in a magazine 
that you could use cookie cutters to make designs on cakes. Has anyone ever 
tried anything like that before? I wrote braille on a cake once with m&m's. 
Anyway cake decorating ideas would be great.
