I use the microwave with the cream cheese unwrapped and in a bowl.
I only go for about 10 seconds at a time. I check with a fork to check the
smoothness.

I have a Kitchen Aid electric hand mixer, and I think I did get the 
batter very smooth, but I'm just wondering if there was anything else I
