Gingersnap on the Rocks

Makes 1 serving

 

Ingredients:

1 maraschino cherry

1 orange slice

1 teaspoon orange marmalade

2 dashes of ginger syrup (recipe below)

1-1/2 ounces Crown Royal

Powdered sugar

Ground cinnamon

 

Directions:

Muddle the cherry, orange slice, marmalade and

 

ginger syrup together in a cocktail shaker. Add

 

ice and Crown Royal into shaker and shake well.

 

Strain mixture into a glass rimmed with a mixture

 

of powdered sugar and cinnamon.

 

Ginger Syrup

Makes 1 cup

 

Add a tablespoon or so of this fiery syrup to club

 

soda for a nonalcoholic drink with zip.

 

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar

1 three-inch piece of peeled, minced fresh ginger

2 cups water

 

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a pot and bring to a

 

boil. Lower heat and simmer for about 1 hour.

 

Let cool and strain before using.
