Pumpkin nut cookies 

1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup canned pumpkin
2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted before measuring
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped pecans

Cream shortening and butter; gradually beat in sugar. Cream mixture until
light and fluffy. Add egg and pumpkin; mix well. Sift together the flour,
baking powder, salt, and spices. Stir in dry ingredients; mix until blended.
Add raisins and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheets. Bake at
350° for about 15 minutes.
Makes about 4 dozen pumpkin cookies.
