Wow, that's really horrible! I hope you didn't lose any other important data... then again, is anything as important as how to cook good food?
As I've said before, consider using an online recipe site like pepperplate.com, or at least copy your files to a PC with off-site backup. If you have an iOS device, pepperplate.com is great because it has an app that syncs with the website. There are other, similar services, but that's the only one I've tried so far.
