I have made this cake many times and it is very moist and good. Any kind of Cola will do. Shannon
Cake: 2 cups sugar 2 cups flour 1/2 pound butter 3 tablespoons cocoa 1 cup Coca-Cola 1/2 cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon baking soda 2 eggs, beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Icing: 1/2 cup butter or margarine 3 tablespoons cocoa 6 tablespoons Coca-Cola 1 pound powdered sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup chopped pecans Make the cake: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9-by-13-inch pan. Sift the sugar and flour together and set aside. In a saucepan, melt the butter. Add the cocoa and Coca-Cola. Bring to a boil; boil 1 minute. Add to the dry ingredients. Mix the buttermilk and soda and add to mixture. Add the eggs and vanilla, and stir until smooth. Pour into the pan. Bake for 45 minutes, or till a cake tester comes out clean. Make the icing: Prepare the icing and frost the cake while it's still warm. In a saucepan, mix together the butter, cocoa and Coca-Cola and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and add the sugar, vanilla and mix. Stir in the nuts and spread on the warm cake.
