I assume you have the one from Blmicemart. Do I twist it with the probe away from me, and do I have to push the button as I twist. I've tried twisting and nothing happens. Color me frustrated!

The instructions just said to remove the battery using the button at the
rear.

My guess is that you have to get into the battery compartment to remove a strip that is between the battery and it's contact. As I don't know the thermometer you have, I don't know whether a screwdriver is needed. Did any instructions come with the unit? Naturally, if it says to remove the strip before pushing a button, and you push the button without removing the strip,
nothing will happen.

I got my thermometer, and it says to remove the strip to activate the battery using the button on the rear. I've found the button and
pushed it but nothing happens, and I can't get into the battery
compartment. Do you have to use a screwdriver to get into the
compartment and are batteries included with it?

Hi List,
I'm interested in finding an accessible talking thermometer. My
husband bought me one from Independent Living Aids, but it took
someone sighted to set it up, and then he told me that it was showing things that weren't spoken. My husband and I are totally blind, and I need one that I can set up and use independently. If you can tell me
about any that you've used and like, I'd appreciate it.
