Fried cauliflower
let me say I cheat on this one, I let my sighted wife deep fry the cauliflower if I am using the deep fryer. Just can't get the hang of using the deep fryer.
One head of cauliflower with the leaves removed but the head intact.
Add 1/2 cup of water to a sauce pan that will handle the steam strainer and the cauliflower. Place the cauliflower core side down. Steam it for about 15 minutes, do not over cook or it will turn out to be mush.
Pour cold water over the cauliflower to stop the cooking.
Now cut off the cauliflower off the core. If the buds are large, cut them in half and some times into three pieces, leaving part of the stem on all pieces.
Get out three bowls.
break a egg in the first bowl for dipping the buds in.
Second bowl 1/2 c of flour with salt and pepper mixed in for taste.
Third bowl 1/2 cup of Italian bread crumbs.
Beat egg and dip cauliflower than in flour and than bread crumbs. Deep fry until golden brown. It usually take three eggs to dip all of the cauliflower in. I only use one beaten egg at a time. You can also fry the cauliflower in a frying pan with about 1/4 inch of oil, which I do, if my wife isn't home and I feel in the mood for fried cauliflower, but the deep fryer is easier and quicker and I don't have to do it.
