Barbecued Spareribs

4 pounds pork spareribs, cut in serving-size pieces
salt and pepper
1 medium onion
1 bottle (16 ounces) barbecue sauce, or use 2 cups of homemade barbecue 
sauce

Sprinkle ribs with salt and pepper; place on broiler rack. Broil ribs for 20 
to 25 minutes. Place ribs in slow cooker along with sliced onion and 
barbecue
sauce. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours.
Serves 4 to 6.
