Pat dry. Cut potatoes lengthwise into strips. Heat oil (enough to cover potatoes) in skillet or deep fat fryer to 375 degrees. Cook potatoes until lightly browned. Drain potatoes on paper towels. Keep warm in oven. In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, beer, egg, baking powder and salt. Beat with whip until smooth. Dip fish into batter and fry in hot oil until browned, turning once.
