This morning my wife and I finished up the quiche I made last night for
dinner. I was told I better remember how I made it or I be in trouble.
So that means you are stuck with another recipe.
For the crust
1 1/2 cups of flour
3 tablespoons each of butter and lard
1/3 cup of cold water
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt.
Directions:
Add the flour, sugar, and salt together and mix well. Add the cold
shortening or lard and blend into the flour. Than add the cold butter and
break it up with the flour into pea size pieces. Than dump in the water. U
might have to add a little more water, but not more than a tablespoon. Take
a fork and bring the flour together, do not over mix. Place in a plastic
vegetable bag or plastic wrap and form into a ball and refrigerate for 20 or
30 minutes. Roll out and place in a 9 inch pie plate.
Now for the filling.
I had some Italian hot sausage that I fried up and cut into small pieces.
Would have use bulk sausage if I had it.
Use the same skillet for the sausage to fry up some onion, garlic, and 1
sweet red and green pepper cut into small pieces. Salt and pepper to taste.
cooled down the sausage and onion/pepper and added them to the eggs. Which
were 6 eggs, package of shredded cheese. Think it was Mozzarella, but not
sure. 1/2 cups of milk. Added a little salt/pepper and whiz all the egg,
cheese, milk together and than add the o/p and sausage and poured it into
the pie shell.
Place it in a preheated oven for 55 minutes at 350 F.
Let it set for twenty minutes and had a feast. Was great for breakfast this
morning.
