Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Turnips

Serving Size : 8 

2 pounds all-purpose potatoes -- peeled and cut into 2" pieces

1 pound turnips -- peeled and cut into 2 inch pieces

2 cloves garlic

6 tablespoons butter or margarine

1/2 tablespoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1/2 cup milk

Additional butter -- optional

fresh parsley -- chopped, optional

In pot combine potatoes, turnips and garlic with enough water to cover by

1 inch. Over high heat bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium. Cook until

vegetables are tender, 20 - 25 minutes. Drain; return to pot over very low

heat. Add butter, salt and pepper; mash until smooth. Stir in milk; mash

until combined. Serve topped with butter and parsley, if desired.
