Nothing like cooking a ham butt and pulling the bag after about 6 hours. 145 degrees F. Love my talking thermometer. All you have to do is add a little pineapple juice to cover the bottom of the liner, ( I use cider seeing I made some this year), add 2 tablespoon of brown sugar to the juice. rub the ham down with a little more of brown sugar with a little powder mustard. Put the ham skin side down and place the lid and forget it. Now this is a cooked cured ham. If the ham is fresh, a little longer until the temp is 175 F. The ham comes out perfect every time. Plus, pull the liner, and wipe out the pot. Nothing easier.

I have used those cook-in bags for oven things before like roasts and turkeys. I know these are not the same but I believe they are similar and I loved using the oven ones. I would probably enjoy the crockpot ones as well.

Yes, this works perfectly. I did this with queso for a party earlier this
year, and had no problems at all. One of the other advantages about the bag is that you can prepare the contents the night before, grab a twist tie and
a bowl as Jude suggests below, and store it overnight in the fridge. Then
you can just drop the bag into the crock pot the next morning and remove the twist tie, smoothing the bag over the edges of the crock, and start cooking. This doesn't have any of the risks that prohibit you from preparing the food
in the crock pot and putting the crock in the fridge.
Also, I have two of the original crock pots without removable crocks.
They're a nightmare to get really clean without the bags and a dream to use
with them.
