Hi, it’s a matter of just plain knowing how to use a waffle iron, not of
whether it’s a supposedly accessible one. I say this because I used to have
one that beeped, which was goodcertainly for knowing for sure when it was the
right temperature for putting the batter on, but afterwards, when it would beep
again, my waffles weren’t necessarily done; I was better off waiting for a 2nd
beep. I started out with a round belgian waffler that didn’t beep at all.
Over time I learned to let it heat up while I was mixing my batter. After tjat
it was ready; I’d say in about ten minutes. I’d let each waffle go for a good
three to five minutes, but a good way to know if a waffle is done is to feel
whether steam is coming from around the edge between the two parts of the
waffle iron within that five minute time. When it isn’t, the waffle is done.
Have your spatula positioned so you can get it in as you’re lifting the lid,
get it under a part of the waffle, put fingers of other hand on to keep it on
there, and then pull up sort of.

Hope that helps. My 2nd waffler beeped, what I told you about. It was a
Wearing, I believe, from QVC that made boat-shaped waffles. Now have a
Cheffman through Groupon that doesn’t beep, but that flips over like you find
at waffle stations, which supposedly promotes even batter distribution.
